Lyrics

[Intro]
Oh Gehazi was a disciple of Elisha.
Oh and how Elisha loved him!
But Gehazi did something Foolish.
This story will tell!

[Verse 1]
Naaman was the captain of Syria's Army.
Following him was much fame and blarney.
But not all was good for he developed Leprosy.
With a show of pomp and pride he thought to be amused.
Therefore offered mammon and gifts but Elisha refused.
Gehazi, though, was not content so he created a ruse.

[Chorus]
The Folly of Gehazi desiring the riches of Naaman.
Didn't he understand why Naaman needed to baptize in the river Jordan?
But, no, he ran after him and his Mammon.
And therefore caught the leprous phenomenon!

[Verse 2]
Gehazi asked for silver and clothes.
Naaman gave him some for the servants.
Gehazi proud of his conquest returned and met Elisha glares.
He was asked if it was a time receive oliveyards and garments?
Because, Elisha understood why he chased these material things,
He declared leprosy that would follow him and his generations.

[Chorus]
The Folly of Gehazi desiring the riches of Naaman.
Didn't he understand why Naaman needed to baptize in the river Jordan?
But, no, he ran after him and his Mammon.
And therefore caught the leprous phenomenon!

[Outro]
Oh Gehazi why go after things that cause leprosy!
The desire for Mammon is surely a heresy!
You can not love Mammon and God can't you see?
Like Naaman, take a bath in the River Jordan.
Cleanse yourself of these false desires and be free!
